I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
your Despatch No. 2 of the 5th. January, 1916, transmitting a request from Mrs. Brett, the wife of Mr. C. W. Brett who is in the Asylum in Ceylon, that the pension granted to her husband may be made to commence on April 17th. and that half-pay leave may be granted to that date and to inform you that I regret I am unable to recommend that the application should be entertained.

I would draw attention to the fact that all Mr. Brett's expenses in Ceylon have been borne by this Colony and the
pension due, viz., £67 9 4, has been paid in full to Mrs. Brett

during her husband's sickness.
